Wind speed requirement is determined by local building codesNon-Impact rated doors are sometimes required for residents far inland or in Tornado prone / high wind areas. An Impact Rated door may be required if you live within 1 mile of the coastline, or in wind born debris areas. If you live in Dade County Florida (Or sometimes in island coastal areas ie: Florida Keys) then Dade County Impact Rated may be required. We recommend that you check your local building codes for specific wind speed requirements.
